I’m back with my second blog post. For my second post, I’m going to introduce to you guys my summer month skincare routine.
My morning skincare routine is quite simple compared to the famous Korean eight or nine-step skincare regimens that you may already be aware of. Well, you would be surprised to know that not all Koreans follow those routines. I am one of those Koreans LOL.
Having oily and acne-prone skin, my T-zone is usually brightly shining by lunch hour, especially during the summer time. Summer in Korea is very hot and humid. It’s especially humid during the monsoon season which is usually around the end of June till the middle of July. In this season, I skip the essence step because I don’t want to risk getting my pores clogged. Heavy moisturizing and nourishing can lead to acnes breaking out. The last thing you would want to do is add fluid to fire by layering on a moisturizer that could potentially harm your skin. However, during winter months, it gets dry, so I use essence before applying moisturizer.
[summer morning skincare routine]
- Toner: Dr. JIN Refining Activator
My all-time favorite toner! This dual functioning-toner and exfoliant-BHA toner is perfect for my skin type. As many of you already know, BHAs are good for getting rid of dead skin cells and allowing new skin to grow. BHAs are effective because they’re oil-soluble, meaning they can penetrate the pore to exfoliate. It exfoliates mildly, hydrates and soothes, leaving my skin soft and refreshed. I have been using this since last October, and this is definitely a keeper!
- Eye cream: Innisfree Jeju Lava Seawater Eye Serum
This product is light and has great absorbent powers. I think this is a safe purchase for summer eye serum. Overall, I like this product, but when I finish with this one, I will search for a even better one.
- Moisturizer: Belif / The true cream – aqua bomb
A perfect daytime moisturizer for summer! My beauty fanatic friend told me over and over that she is so satisfied with this cream. On my birthday, she gave me a box with a ribbon tied beautifully around it, containing Belif essences and Aqua Bomb Cream. At first, I wasn’t sure about this gel type moisturizer. Even though I have oily skin, I somehow felt that gel type cream might not provide enough hydration. Gel cream seemed kind of too light(?), and I was reluctant to try this new ‘gel’ type. Little did I know how wrong I was. I fell in love with this cream the moment I first tried it and I was so glad my friend got me this gift. This lightweight cream is not only refreshing, but it also smells nice. Moreover, it doesn’t cause breakouts or leave my face looking oily. I use this daily in the mornings because it preps my skin well for the next step. I highly recommend it!
- Sunscreen: Dr. JIN Daily Defense Sun Lotion SPF50+ PA+++
I think all of you will agree with me when I say that sunscreen is the most important step in the summer daytime skincare routine. Although the Sun provides us with essential vitamin D, you all know that it is a major skin damaging and aging factor. Some products are too thick and not instantly absorbed into skin causing poor coverage and rough skin after I apply foundation. Dr. JIN sunscreen is light, non-greasy, smells nice, and preps my skin well for the next step. Just knowing that it was developed by trusted and renowned group of doctors, dermatologists, and researchers gives me a sense of security and you may be rest assured that your skin is being protected against the scorching heat from the sun.
- Primer: Banila co. Prime Primer / Classic
This is a very popular primer in Korea. I have read so many good reviews about it and overall I am pretty satisfied as a pore covering primer. Having acne-prone skin, large pores are always my concern. It covers pores, leaving my skin soft and even. However, after this bottle, I want to try Pore Master Primer by Aritaum. I read a lot of good reviews about this product too so I’m eager to try it out.
- Lip balm: Innisfree Canola Honey Lip Balm / deep moisture
This is one of my favorite products. I highly recommend it as it literally deeply moisturizes, leaving my lips so soft. It’s my third one and I don’t think I will be switching to other products any time soon.
[nighttime skincare routine]
- Toner: Dr. JIN Refining Activator
Yes, I use this product morning and the evening. I love it!
- Moisturizer: La Mer soft cream
This is loved by so many people already. I don’t think I need to explain why this product is so awesome. It hydrates and sooths your skin and has a pleasant scent. Love it!
- Eye cream: Skinfood: Skinfood Black Raspberry Eye Cream (Wrinkle Care)
Not bad for a nighttime eye cream. Unlike some eye creams I have used before, it is not greasy and I feel it hydrates the skin around my eyes enough to ward off wrinkles. However, I am keeping an eye out for new eye creams out there.
So this is it for my second blog! I revealed my current morning and nighttime skincare routines. I hope you found the information useful. What is your skincare routine like? Let me know what you think and also share your skincare routine, too!
